Description:
K Olsen does very high quality, high end work, mostly constructing expensive +$1,000,000 houses at the Kicking Horse ski development near Golden, BC. The quality of his work is excellent and he is punctual and thorough. He is probably the best builder in Golden.
Be very careful if you are on a tight budget. Billing is sporadic and his estimates are low to what the final cost will be. Although the contract may say that you will get cost estimates and updates on what to expect, this never happened to us although it was requested. You may want to consider doing a fixed bid to avoid cost over runs.
His sub contractors are reasonably good but again be careful. We checked on the cost for one job and found that it was almost double what another competitive contractor would do it for. We also saw his people leaving the site at 3:00PM on a Friday. When I checked the billing, we had been charged for a full 8 hour day.
Overall we were very happy with the quality of the construction of our ski chalet but felt that the price was very high for the quality. I would only use K Olsen if I was building a very high quality place and money was no object.
